Barista’s supreme effort

AN Invercargill barista has taken out top honours from more than 300 other New Zealand baristas, winning the Z service station Supreme National Food and Coffee Specialist Hero Award.
Z Gladstone’s Hillda Walter found out about her win at a Z award ceremony in Wellington earlier this month when she thought she was claiming her South Island title.
The awards took into consideration several elements, including how many coffees were sold, but most importantly how happy customers were with the service they received, Z Gladstone owner Graeme Sherlock said.
‘‘We not only get a lot of [customer feedback forms] supporting what a great food and coffee specialist Hillda is, but people also go out of their way to tell us how lovely, professional and kind she is,’’ he said.
Ms Walter said she liked to make customers feel welcome, remembering their names and how they liked their coffees.
‘‘A customer can catch my eye and give me a nod from the forecourt. I can make their coffee for them so it’s ready [when they come in],’’ she said.Sports brandsMen’s shoes
