EXCLUSIVE and one›off items of designer clothing and jewellery will be on offer at the Jane Sutherland Pop Up Shop tomorrow and Saturday.
Fashion designer Jane Sutherland hit the southern fashion radar more than a decade ago in 2004, and was originally known for her jewellery.
Since then she has branched out into fashion clothing, in particular merg› ing metalwork with cloth, and has established a name for herself amongst the fashion industry.
This year Sutherland will feature at the iD Dunedin Fashion Week showing some of her latest range on the catwalk and has also been asked to be a judge at this year’s Hokonui Fashion Design Awards in Gore.
Joining forces with marketing manager Cherie Rhind, the pair are also offering southern fashionistas the opportunity to be amongst the first to peruse and buy some ‘‘exclusive’’ designer pieces at Sutherland’s pop op shop at No 9Cambridge Arcade, Invercar› gill.
Mrs Rhind said she had been a big fan of Sutherland’s work for anumber of years, so when the opportunity arose to join together, she jumped at the chance.
‘‘The pop up shop will feature the first installment of Sutherland’s winter range. It will be an exclusive oppor› tunity for people to make a purchase before the range goes live [on the web].’’
It’s part of an ‘‘ongoing plan’’, she said, and would include at least 16 different designs, as well as a range of jewellery.
In the future the pair are planning to hold more pop up shops throughout New Zealand, and although Suth› erland’s workshop is based on the shores of Lake Waka› tipu in Kingston, they were considering moving adistri› bution base to a retail store, possibly in Invercargill, as well as supplying a variety of outlets throughout New Zealand.
‘‘We want to do things a little bit different… And we look forward to adding a touch of copper into our future designs.
‘‘We will be doing an exclusive line where we will only manufacture one of each size, so only four of one design will be sold worldwide. We will be quite creative and want to give people the opportunity to see what is available in person before it hits the website.’’
