Dr Johri has sold his Invercargill Medical Practice, which includes Sportsmed South Joint Injection Clinic and Invercargill Travellers Health & Vaccination Clinic.

AFTER 43 years of ownership, Dr Ajit Johri has sold his Don St, Invercargill, medical practice.

Dr Johri announced the Family Medicine GP part of the practice, which was just one of the services offered, had been sold to A B Samuel Trust.

With his final day set for October 31, the SportsMed South clinic, Joint Injection Clinic and Invercargill Travellers’ Health & Vaccination Clinic would close altogether, Dr Johri said.

“Dr Ade Samuel will run this [Family Medicine GP] practice from November 1. To help with handover, [I] will be working alongside Dr Samuel until November 27.

“[He] will be the seventh doctor running this famous institution of Southland.”

Established 81 years ago by Pioneering Families of Southland, the medical practice was owned by Drs Johnston and Jennings, of Scotland, between 1939 and 1945, he said.

Dr Alfred Poole then took over the practice and ran it until 1952, followed by Dr Derek Clarke who then owned it until 1977 – before Dr Johri became owner.

“Casual patients will continue to be seen and treated.

“Since there will be several doctors and nurse practitioners working, new enrolments are being accepted.”
