VODAFONE Invercargill has relocated from the corner of Tay and Kelvin Sts to Esk St, but will move premises again ahead of the proposed multi-million-dollar retail precinct being developed by HWCP Management Ltd.

Vodafone Invercargill opened its doors in its new temporary location at 59 Esk St last month.

Franchisee Jo Sharp said the store would move again to the Business House at 20 Don St when construction of the new retail precinct began and, once completed, would then relocate to the new development.

“I appreciate our customers’ patience and loyalty. At the end of the day, we’ll have a lovely, shiny new premises with plenty of parking.”

Ms Sharp said people might assume relocating a business which sells internet services and cellphones would be easier than having to shift a lot of bulky stock, but this was not the case.

“It’s technically not that easy, but we are quite adaptable.”

HWCP Management is a joint venture between HWR Property Ltd, part of HW Richardson Group, and the Invercargill City Council’s Invercargill City Property Ltd set up last year to advance developments in the CBD aligned with the Southland Regional Development Strategy.

The proposed retail precinct development would be located in the block bordering Tay, Kelvin, Esk, and Dee Sts.
