SUNDAY afternoon is shaping up to be a harmonious occasion at First Presbyterian Church.

Presented by the Southland branch of the New Zealand Choral Federation, SingFest 2017 will feature performances by several local choirs.

Men’s harmony chorus Southern Sou’NZ will perform in full, along with presenting a quartet.

The chorus features 18 men who sing barbershop-style.

President Graeme Walker said members of the ensemble sang unaccompanied in four parts for males – bass, baritone, lead and tenor. It was formed in 2000.

Musical director Stephen Aldridge said singing was an enjoyable experience and he looked forward to Sunday’s event.

“It will be good to be with other groups because of the different styles. It will also be the first time SingFest is back in First Church after the fire.”

If anyone is interested in joining Southern Sou’NZ or would like more information, phone Graeme Walker on 03 215 4635.

SingFest, Sunday, October 15, First Church, Tay St, Invercargill, 2pm. Gold coin entry.
