Shakespeare workshop participant Jayden Burgess, 10, of Invercargill, gets some expert tutelage from facilitator Glenda Pearce, of Auckland, at the workshop held at St John’s Girls’ School in Invercargill on Saturday.
Jayden was one of about 10 participants who learned key aspects in how to perform Shakespeare’s works at the event hosted by the Southland branch of the Speech Communication Association.
The attendees worked through a piece from Shakespeare after discussing the characteristics of his works, the dialogue he uses and the cues he created with punctuation throughout his scripts.
Pearce completed studies about the famous playwright’s works in both performance and directing at the recreated home of Shakespeare, the Globe Theatre in London in 2018.
