NELSON-BASED organist Kemp English will perform Dancing with the Organ on the recently installed Johannus Ecclesia D470 organ at Invercargill’s First Presbyterian Church, Tay St, on Sunday, November 4, at 3pm.

An international touring concert organist and entertainer, English has performed in the United Kingdom, France, New Caledonia, Australia, Hong Kong and throughout New Zealand, with his last performance at First Church a year ago on his portable three-tiered manual Johannus digital pipe organ.

Reverend Nyalle Paris said this would be the first public concert on the new organ, and English would perform “a range of well-known organ pieces from ancient to modern, showing the diversity of the organ”.

The new organ had four distinctly different tonal styles – French, German, modern American and early music, he said.

Door sales, adults $20, senior citizens and students $15, school children free.
