SOUTHLAND schools took to the stage at First Church in Invercargill on Tuesday night to compete in the Southland Regional Final of the Big Sing Secondary Schools Choral Festival.
Five secondary school choirs from around Southland took part in performing a range of melodies, from old classics to modern mash-ups.

Southland Girls’ High School groups Sanguine and Femme performed, as well as Northern Southland Colleges’ Harmonium, James Hargest College group Ancora, and
Southland Boys’ High Schools’ Momentum.
Femme took out all three of the awards, as well as a highly commended award, which Ancora also took home.

Momentum received a commended award, as well as the ambassador’s prize.
The adjudicator for the evening was Jono Palmer, a former secondary school teacher with a Masters in Music.
Each choral group brought their A-Game in the hopes of winning a shot at the Big Sing Finale which will be held in the Dunedin Town Hall from August 29-31.
