HAVE you always wanted to see your favourite entertainer but haven’t had the opportunity?
Well-known “stars” will take to the stage at the Civic Theatre as part of the Invercargill Musical Theatre’s (IMT) theatre restaurant production Stars in Your Eyes, which runs from November 16-24 except for Sunday, November 19.
IMT vice-president Bernadette Gourley said the show was based on the popular television series and after two months of intensive rehearsals it would showcase talented locals performing as their chosen entertainer.
“Nineteen local entertainers and five dancers will have their hair, make-up and costumes to look and sound like the star. We are not telling anyone who the stars are going to be, but they will be very entertaining,” Mrs Gourley said.
The show will include a two-course meal.
“We haven’t done theatre restaurant for two years and one of the exciting things this time is that the entire show and meal is set on the stage of the Civic Theatre. People will sit on the stage, where there will also be a show stage so they will be very close to the action, which is quite exciting,” she said.
Stars in Your Eyes is being directed by Jan Brown, with musical direction by Hollie Longman, choreography by Gina Stevens and Hana Skeggs and make-up by Tiffany Sandoe.
“It is going to be a great night of entertainment. The meal catered by Ascot Park Hotel will be delicious and the show involves an all-local cast, with some very experienced local entertainers, faces and names Southland will know well.
“The show is full of music that people will know and they get to see our locals transformed from the everyday look into a star.”
Mrs Gourley said some of the nights were already sold out, but there were still good seats available.
“The cast have done such a fantastic job rehearsing and putting the show together, and we would love them to have a sold-out audience every night.
