Not-guilty plea in shooting

    Invercargill District Court.

The 34-year-old man, who has interim name suppression, appeared via audio visual link before Judge David Robinson, entering his plea via counsel Scott Williamson.

A bail hearing had also been set down for yesterday’s appearance, however partway through the hearing it was adjourned for police to gain further information.

The bail hearing will resume in the Invercargill District Court today.

In seeking name suppression from Judge Robinson yesterday, Mr Williamson said “there was an awful story that’s going to be told at some stage sir”.

At the man’s appearance in court last week, Mr Williamson said the defendant admitted he was the shooter, the incident having taken place at his house, however he was acting in self-defence at the time.
