Top five finish for photographer

INVERCARGILL photographer Sam Deuchrass may not have won the Discovery Channel’s first global internship, but he said other opportunities had come his way in part due to his making it into the top five in the competition.

“Discovery helped my exposure and has added to the CV and the doors are opening, which is pretty exciting.”

Not only has he and the other finalists been offered the opportunity to contribute content to the Discovery Channel’s soon-to-be launched blog Heaps of Stuff, he had also been approached by two companies in the United States, based in New York and Colorado, to do photography work for them, he said. Deuchrass’ photograph of the Nugget Point lighthouse in the Catlins was one of 10,000 entries in the international Discovery intern competition, open to New Zealand and Australian residents aged between 18 and 30.Adidas shoesNike
