IT was a special treat for members of Age Concern as they got into the festive spirit to celebrate Christmas with Santa on Tuesday.

Invercargill resident Edna Calvert (pictured above) attended the special lunch along with 70 other elderly people from the community.

She was delighted with the gathering, which included entertainment from Otatara Preschool children, including 3-year-olds Matilda Lindsay (centre) and Evie Russell, who sang Christmas songs including Jingle Bell Rockand We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

She said it was cheering to have them around. “I’ve come here every year for… I can’t remember. But having those kids singing to us is delightful. They bring the Christmas spirit to us.”
