Car and bike show bigger and better

Ready Set Go: Southland Chevrolet Club members look forward to the holding the Southern Grilles and Gasoline Car and Bike Show next month.

SOUTHLAND Chevrolet Club members are revving up their engines for the Southern Grilles and Gasoline Car and Bike Show.

Southland Chevrolet Club president and event organiser Jason Pope said the event would happen during Waitangi Weekend.

“It is the fourth year the show will run but every year it is getting bigger and better.”

About 120 people had registered to take part this year so far, he said.

“We are expecting to have 400 to 500 cars on the day.”

One participant would be coming from north of Christchurch, he said.

“People do come from as far as Auckland to attend the event.”

The event will begin on Friday, February 4, with all vehicles cruising through the main streets of Invercargill from Clyde St to Yarrow St.

The Saturday show will be hosted at the Collegiate Rugby Football Club.

There will be activities and entertainment for children, with live music from the band El Scratcho, craft stalls and vendors.

Proceeds raised throughout the day will be donated to the Loss and Grief Centre.

For those taking part, a mystery cruise will be held on Sunday which will include laps at Teretonga and a barbecue.

Anyone wanting to register for the show could do so via the Southern Grilles and Gasoline Facebook page.
