Fast times set in ES Car Club’s gravel hillclimb

CARTER Strang, of Wallacetown, in his Mitsubishi EVO 6 (pictured), on his way to another win during the Eastern Southland Car Club’s Mt Misery Gravel Hillclimb in Ernslaw One Ltd’s Conical Hills Forestry Block, near Tapanui, on Saturday.

Strang set the fastest time of the day on his second run in his final event in the car.

James Worker was second in the same car with a time of 1:44.2.

Worker bought the car from Strang.

Jeremy McIlwrick, of Wallacetown, (EVO 4) was third, and Vaughan Edie, of Invercargill, fourth.

The hillclimb was the first event of the Eastern Southland Car Club’s 2021/2022 season with the next event in two weeks’ time Rallysprint on Saturday, August 14, with the South Otago Car Club’s Catlin’s Inn Rallysprint the following day on Sunday, August 15.
