INVERCARGILL racing driver Liam MacDonald reaped the rewards of another successful season when he received the silverware from his hard-fought Class 2 NZ Touring Cars Championship title win in Wellington on Saturday night.
MacDonald travelled to the Motorsport New Zealand Annual Awards in the capital after winning the Class 2 title for the second consecutive year in his Speedy Signs Ford Falcon.
The young Southlander has fashioned an outstanding record in his short motor racing career. Since embarking on his first full national championship campaign in the 2016-2017 season, he has won the national title twice in as many seasons. He dominated the 2016-17 championship despite the fact he was racing at several of the circuits for the first time, while this year after a strong start mechanical issues during the mid-point of the season meant he had to fight back and overcome adversity to retain his title.
His efforts received due recognition at the function at Shed 6 at the TSB Arena at Queens Wharf in Wellington on Saturday night.
MacDonald is also a finalist in the ILT Sportsperson of the Year at the Southland Sports Awards on Friday, June 8.
MacDonald and his team are keen to step into the Class 1 championship next season and are working to put the sponsorship in place to do so.Nike air jordan SneakersUpdated Air Jordan Sneaker Releases for 2021
