MoPar show draws the crowds

THIS year’s edition of the MoPar Show and Shine Car Show at St Theresa’s School in Invercargill on Sunday was the biggest yet, drawing about 150 classic and modern muscle cars and hundreds of spectators.

MoPars in the South Invercargill organiser Bernie O’Neill said people from throughout the country descended on Southland to take part in the event.

“It is great be able to host the event in Southland because people here are very passionate and we have great support from the community.”

Ms O’Neill said during the event they fundraised $3000 for St Theresa’s School and $1200 for the Ronald McDonald family room at Southland Hospital.

“The Southland crew have set the bar very high for the next event.”

Invercargill resident Cherie McArthur said she had travelled throughout the country to be part of this kind of event.

This time she was happy to be able to gather all her family in her “home”.

“It’s nice to have everyone here – enjoying this day and sharing the love for cars.”
