THE inaugural Southern Grilles and Gasoline Car and Bike Show has been hailed a success after more than 300 cars turned out to the event.
Organised by the Southland Chevrolet Club, the day of petrolhead heaven took place at the Collegiate Rugby Club in Invercargill last Saturday.
Club president Jason Pope said he was amazed at the turnout.
“We got really good sponsorship from the community which was just word of mouth, us knocking on doors which obviously we were really happy about. So all our raffles, all our prize money, everything has been sponsored.”
Mr Pope said all funds raised on the day would go to St John Ambulance to help them towards building a new ambulance station in Invercargill.
