LABOUR Weekend is shaping to be a big one at Teretonga Park in Invercargill with Round 3 of the Carter’s Tyre Service South Island Endurance Series set to be contested at the circuit.

Two separate One Hour Races and the traditional Three Hour race will all take place on Sunday, October 24.

The Endurance Series always features a host of exotic, spectacular and extremely quick saloon cars and this year will be no exception.

Tickets for the event are on sale at Auto Centre, Tweed St, Invercargill and E Hayes & Sons, Dee St, Invercargill, priced at $15 each with children 14 and under, accompanied by an adult, free.

Under current restrictions crowds can attend the event but groups not attending together should maintain a distance of 1m between each other.

Face masks are required upon entering the circuit and when accessing toilet facilities.

Prior to Labour Weekend’s racing Round 3 of the Evolution Motorsport ClubSport Championship will take place at the circuit on Saturday with a motorkhana in the morning followed by autocross in the afternoon.

If you are keen to see what entry level motorsport is about pop out for a look.

In preparation for the season, last weekend saw a large number of first responders and flag marshalls attend a Training Day at Teretonga Park, including a number from the Southland Motorcycle Club in preparation for the new season.

Participants enjoyed theory sessions on health and safety, communication and report writing.

There was also an outdoor practical session with fire extinguishers.

Motorsport NZ chief executive officer Elton Goonan attended the training day and thanked those in attendance for attending and for their efforts in volunteering at motorsport events.
