A MAJOR change in X Factor Cars Riverside Speedway’s race calendar will see the running of a major meeting on December 28.

This meeting will host the popular ILT Fireworks Extravaganza, an event usually held in November, but which has been weather-affected for the past three seasons.

The club decided, seeing as Beachlands Speedway in Dunedin and Central Motor Speedway in Cromwell both race between Christmas and New Year, it would slap a meeting right in the middle of those two, to attract out-of-town drivers who want to do the Christmas circuit of three Southern clubs.

The club then decided, to attract families, to hold the ILT Fireworks Extravaganza, then the Mag & Turbo Super Cup which will see the Supercars of clay do battle at Riverside.

Big names, such as former New Zealand Champion Shane McIntyre, will be entered as well as crowd favourite Ian “The Baby Faced Assassin” Burson, of Nelson.

The SW Finance Southland Super Saloon Championship will also take place with the Mag & Turbo Super Cup drivers trying to claim the trophy.

The club will also welcome south a massive field of stockcars with the Garagehound Fabrication Southern Stockcar Series. Drivers from all around the South Island have entered and the biff and bash nature of this grade will see some quality entertainment unfold.

Across the rest of the grades, the Christmas Trophy, Six Shooters, Modified Sprints, Youth Saloons, Production Saloons, Sprintcars, Saloons and Streetstocks will be hitting the track to compete for this piece of silverware.

There will be bonus races thrown in as the fireworks can’t be let off until dark so if a great family day of action is just what you need to see the year off, X Factor Cars Riverside Speedway has plenty to offer for all.
