THE Rock Riverside Speedway will sign off a busy 2017 in style on Saturday with the running of the Christmas championships across all grades.

A solid contingent of visiting drivers are expected to be trackside to take on the locals and to gain some serious track time ahead of what will be the club’s busiest year as 2018 rolls around.

The club will host two New Zealand championships in quick succession.

The Cleanways New Zealand Streetstock Championship will take place on January 19-20 and, with more than 60 entries already received, this promises to be one of the biggest speedway events witnessed in the south.

This event will be followed by the first New Zealand Production Saloon Championship on February 16-17, and on February 23 the Hydralink War of the Wings will bring more than 20 sprintcars to Riverside.

The big meetings continue in March, with stockcar royalty Peter Rees bringing a large contingent of cars south as part of his farewell tour on March 9, and the season will wrap up on April 14 with the Southern Saloon Series and Demolition Derby.

This weekend’s action kicks off at 4pm.
