THE Southland Rodders Club’s 50th anniversary celebrations will be held this month.
To mark the event, the club is hosting a weekend of events for past and present members, including a meet and greet on Friday, December 29, a short run around Southland the following day, as well as a tour of the Bill Richardson Transport World and a dinner and prize-giving at the Ascot Park Hotel.
“It is a great milestone of one of the oldest clubs in New Zealand,” club secretary Julian Friend said.
The public was invited to attend a New Zealand Hot Rod Association-sanctioned show being held as part of the event, where about 50 hot rods of American origin from the 1920s through to the 1970s would be on display, he said.
The show will be held in the car park behind the Invercargill Public Library on Leven St between 9.30am and 11.30am. Entry by gold coin, with proceeds donated to Hospice Southland.
