X Factor Cars annual Christmas Championship will be contested this Saturday afternoon, and in addition to the Christmas Championships Silverware will be on offer for two more classes.
Streetstocks will run the first Southland Championship of the 2019/20 Season, opting to skip the Christmas Championship until early next year, and if rumours are true, a contingent of over a dozen Dunedin cars could be making the trip South to try and steal the Southland Championship.
Riverside’s Mark Henderson has held the title for the last two seasons but there is no word as to whether he will return to attempt the “three-peat”, he still has a car but hasn’t been seen so far this season. In form local drivers have been Chris Kergozou and Dan Black who together won the Best Pairs event held recently, but if it’s typical streetstock racing the championship could go to anyone on the day, this promises to be a brutal encounter.
If there is not enough action with the streetstock championship the club will host its first ever Derby Teams Championship, sponsored by Duratec.
The event was earlier postponed, which has allowed for extra teams to enter and should be entertaining for the punters.
The Christmas championship will be contested across all grades except streetstocks, so saloons, youth saloons, production saloons, stockcars, six shooters and modified sprints will all battle it out wheel to wheel to bring down the curtain on 2019.
2020 will also be a big year for the club with a number of Southland championships to be contested, not to mention the running of two South Island championships over back to back weekends in February.
Entries are already starting to roll in for the South Island Sprintcar and Stockcar championships, two of the most entertaining grades that speedway have to offer.
The club wishes to thank everyone who has been a part of X Factor Cars Riverside Speedway in 2019, be it drivers, crews, helpers or the Speedway public of Southland, the club wishes you all a Merry Christmas and can’t wait to see you all trackside this Saturday at 2pm.
