2017 Southland Santa Parade will be held on Saturday, December 2, from 2pm and will travel along Gala, Dee, Tay and Kelvin Sts.

St John Invercargill area fundraising committee member Kim Forsythe said St John had been selected as the charity to benefit from the parade’s collection buckets this year.

“It’s great we’ve been recognised as the not-for-profit [organisation] that’s deserving of this. We like to offer a service back to the community and every little bit helps to help us buy new uniforms or whatever bits and pieces we might need.”

St John Invercargill officers and cadets would be marching with the parade, she said.

Southland Santa Parade co-ordinator Alice Pottinger said Santa had been in contact and was “demanding a lot from the elves this year, and we are working with him to make sure we have another successful parade.”
