AN afternoon tea to thank our mums will be hosted by Hospice Southland at the Invercargill Workingmen’s Club on Mother’s Day, May 14. Thanks Mum will be all about showing appreciation towards mothers.
“This Mother’s Day fundraiser is a great opportunity to bring your mum and grandmother out for an afternoon tea to say thank you,” Hospice Southland events co-ordinator Suzanne Prentice said.
Nineteen-year-old cancer survivor Jake Bailey, who made global headlines for his powerful speech at his school prizegiving last year, will be the guest speaker.
In his book What Cancer Taught Me, Jake wrote how his mother inspired him to keep fighting. Copies of the book will be on sale at the event, with $5 from every book sold going to Hospice Southland.
Thanks Mum afternoon tea, Sunday, May 14, 2pm-4pm, Invercargill Workingmen’s Club. Tickets $25, available at Hospice Southland shops, Hospice Southland reception and at www.livingeverymoment.co.nz
