The inaugural Ascot Park Hotel Charity Poker Run will be held on Sunday, September 17.

Ascot Park Hotel executive manager Bryan Townley said the event would start from the hotel’s car park and participants would pay a $40 entry fee, which included a 10am brunch at the hotel and a social barbecue at the hotel’s Sports Bar after 5pm.

There would also be “great prizes and raffles on the day”, he said.

A portion of the money raised on the day would go to charity, he said.

Participants would start their poker hand with a playing card drawn at the car park and would then draw further cards for their hand at each point along the route.

The route would follow a trail of secret locations throughout the southern region, he said.

Participants could also buy extra cards at the end of the run in the hope of making a better hand, he said.
