THE Heart Foundation’s Big Heart Street Appeal will be held next Friday and Saturday.
Claire Fraser said she decided to volunteer as a collector this year because her daughters’ grandfather had died from a heart attack in November 2016.
“Every little bit helps. People need to make sure on those days they have money on them, or they can donate through the website,” she said.
Heart Foundation New Zealand chief executive Tony Duncan said he was grateful to the many big-hearted New Zealanders who had already signed up to volunteer a few hours of their time.
“Heart disease is still New Zealand’s single biggest killer, with more than 100 people dying of heart disease each week. That means over 100 families lose a loved one every week, be it their mother, father, sister, brother. By donating, you can make more life-saving research into heart disease possible.”
