The Civic Theatre open day will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 10am-4pm.
Invercargill Venue & Events Management Ltd venues manager Kate Feaver said the biennial open days were very popular and the highlight for many was the opportunity to go on a guided tour of the “fly floor” system for lighting, sound and effects on stage and the backstage area.
The theatre’s Drawing Room would also be set up as a mock conference room, while the Victoria Room would be decorated and prepared for a wedding to showcase the uses of the theatre as a venue for hire, Ms Feaver said.
Ascot Catering would dress tables and offer tea, coffee, and refreshments, while other vendors would provide decorations and floral displays, she said
A photo booth will be set up for people wanting a free photographic memento of their visit. Previous theatre open days in 2013 and 2015 had seen about 700 people attend, she said.
