Fight for Kidz organisers Steve Boutcher (second from right) and Dave Bartley present Autism New Zealand Southland outreach co-ordinator Wendy Jenkins (second from left) and supporter Shona Cook with the keys to a new car on Monday purchased with some of the proceeds from last month’s charity boxing tournament. The event raised $101,075.62 for the Southland charity. “It was good to break the six-figure mark,” Boutcher said. “Once again we thank the sponsors, boxers and coaching staff.” Mrs Jenkins said she was grateful Autism NZ Southland was chosen as the recipient. “It was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of autism and to have the opportunity to do some dream projects to help support children, families and professionals supporting someone with autism in Southland.” The proceeds would also be used to provide resources in early childhood centres and schools in Southland, run training programmes, and bring specialists to Southland to do autism spectrum disorder assessments.
