GEORGETOWN Bowling Club members celebrated a milestone on Labour Day.

About 40 people gathered to have fun and roll a bowl on Monday during the Invercargill club’s 90th Jubilee Tournament.

Club president Andy Evans was excited with the milestone.

“It is not many clubs that can celebrate 90 years and, a few years back, we had doubts we would get to this anniversary because we went through some challenges.

“But, anyway, we had a revival and we’re still here.”

He said the club had about 40 members, with the youngest 19 and the oldest 86.

Mr Evans hoped the sport would continue to shine in the region.

“It is a game for all ages. It is fun and it is for everybody.”

The group would also celebrate the milestone with a special dinner from 6pm on Sunday at Mrs Slocombes.

“Everyone was welcome,” Mr Evans said.
