ENTRIES for the 2017 Gingerbread House Competition are open until Monday, December 4.
The categories include a traditional gingerbread house or an authentic reproduction of a significant Invercargill building, for which entrants are asked to include a photo of the actual building or structure along with their creation.
Entry is either $10 or three cans offood, with all proceeds to be donated to the Southland Food Bank.
The categories are for children under-10, youth 10-17 years, adult, family, professionals and classroom, with prizes for overall winners of morethan $300.
Entry forms can be obtained from the Invercargill City Council, InvercargillPublic Library and online.
The creations need to be dropped off at the Cambridge Place Arcade on Esk St on Wednesday, December 6, 11am-1pm, or Thursday, December 7, 4pm- 7pm.
The creations will be judged by Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt and culinary and pastry chefs, with the winner to be announced on Saturday, December 9, at the annual City Centre Christmas Festival and Market on Esk St.
All the gingerbread creations will be displayed in the Cambridge Place Arcade from December 8 to January 2.
