Goodies galore at Hospice event

IF you are looking for a fun afternoon out, Hospice Southland’s latest fundraiser might be just the ticket.

‘Of Course You Can Do It’ is theme of the latest event which is being held at Invercargill’s Ascot Park Hotel on Sunday, June 27.

Hospice Southland events co-ordinator Suzanne Prentice said the event would be jam-packed with interesting things to learn.

“It will be a lovely afternoon just relaxing – better than watching Netflix,” she said.

“I wanted it to be a fun afternoon on a Sunday in the middle of winter.”

On offer was learning how to make a Mediterranean chorizo and chickpea soup mastered by Ascot Park Hotel executive chef Simon Henry, Ambrosia Florist owner Shani Hopgood teaching how to create floral decorations at home, Seriously Good Chocolate Company owner Jane Stanton handing over her chocolate brownie recipe and Scott Buchanan and Sharon Buick, of Mitre 10 Mega, demonstrating garden pods.

Tickets for the event are $45 per person, or $400 for a table of 10.

Each person would receive a glass of bubbles on arrival and there would be two shared platters per table, Ms Prentice said.

Every attendee would also receive a goodie bag containing recipes and instructions as well as other treats to take home.

“The last time I looked, the goodie bag outweighed the ticket price,” she said.

Tickets were available from Paper Plus in H&J Smith, Hospice Southland or Ascot Park Hotel receptions, or through the Hospice Southland website www.hospicesouthland.org.nz.

However, Ms Prentice warned people to be quick to get a ticket.

“Tickets are limited and selling very well, so get in to get your tickets.”
