WOMEN’S Wellbeing Group will host a gratitude nature walk to help connect women within the community.
The walk will happen at Kilmock Bush in Fosbender Park, Otatara, on Sunday at 1pm.
Group founder Jade Holly said the event was an extension of the group but was open to the public, and wanted to encourage women to come along.
A walk outdoors was the perfect activity for people to connect, she said.
‘‘I really benefit from being out in nature and thought it would be nice for people to come along and enjoy it in the way that I do.’’
After she had shifted from Hawke’s Bay to Southland she had found it difficult to form friendships, so as a way to meet a need she decided to create a women’s group two months ago.
‘‘Connecting and meeting people was quite challenging and sometimes it’s quite hard to do. But with the group I could welcome people from the comfort of my home where I felt a little bit at ease and helped them feel at ease, so creating the group sort of flowed from that.’’
As the organiser of the wellbeing group she often created different activities which helped women improve their mental wellbeing, she said.
