THE former Garage and Car Boot Sales held next to The Pantry in South Invercargill have proved so popular, they have been rebranded to the Village Markets with five planned throughout the year.
Hosted by The Pantry, 133 Grace St, a retail shop which sells wholefoods and specialty groceries, barista coffee, and a range of specialty ingredients for baking, almost 30 stallholders set up last November in the community space nearby.
The Pantry chairwoman Janette Malcolm said, “following our very successful market in November, there was keen interest to have more in 2020.
“We’ve made a few changes based on feedback… with most people saying we should stick to the warmer months.”
Each market would run from 10am to 1pm, with the first to be held on Saturday, February 22, with another in March, before the winter break. The markets would resume in the warmer months, in October, with another in November and the final one for the year in December.
“A sausage sizzle would also be included this time.”
Ms Malcolm said having the markets set up beside The Pantry was an added bonus.
“It’s nice having The Pantry there. It gives people the chance to visit, have a coffee, a scone or a cheeseroll and socialise after visiting the market.”
For more information, or for those wishing to book a space can contact The Pantry on its website thepantry.co.nz or phone 03 214 5200. A trestle table space would cost $10, a gazebo space (3mx3m) $20 or a larger gazebo or trailer (limited spaces) $25.
