Paying it forward

Touch of Colour owner Aaron Sadlier took some time off from his painting business to help
paint the exterior of the Southland Charity Hospital.

Mr Sadlier’s father died from cancer on December 23, 2020.

His wife, Kylie, was also a schoolmate of cancer campaigner Blair Vining.

Because of his close associations with the ‘‘worthy cause’’ he thought it would be ‘‘a good opportunity to give something back to the community’’.

He was unsure how long he would be working at the site, but was happy to continue his
input with the painting.

‘‘As soon as the builders get it up, we will get it [paint] on,’’ he said.

Hospital board secretary Nicky Phillipson said the project had reached another significant
milestone with building extensions completed and building closed in. The next stage of the internal fitout had started and the project was on target for opening later this year.

‘‘We have some fantastic volunteers from many trades helping but they are all extremely busy so we are always looking for more volunteer support, especially carpenters, gib fixers and stoppers, painters, electricians and plumbers,’’ she said.
