Queens Park to host family fun

SUNDAY’S Family Fun Day at Queens Park will run from 1pm-4pm.

Hosted by Invercargill North Rotary, the free family event would include plenty of activities including painted rock hunts, dog demonstrations, fire trucks, free ice blocks and music to entertain everyone from youngsters to grandparents all afternoon.

A wheels event would also be held from the Herbert St Gates to the band rotunda for children to compete in with three age groups under-5 at 1.30pm, 5-8 at 2pm and 8-plus at 2.30pm.

Children were encouraged to bring their wheels, whether it be a scooter, trike, bike or roller skates had wheels.

Rotarian and club promotions officer Sharon Hamilton said this was the second year the club had hosted the free event.

“Last year it was a beautiful day and we had between 400 to 500 people take part.

“We encourage people to bring a picnic and have some fun… and it’s all free.”
