ABOUT 30,000 books will be on sale at the Rotary Club of Invercargill annual book sale which begins tomorrow, May 25, at the Civic Theatre.

Rotary Club of Invercargill president Peter Dunn said it took hundreds of volunteer hours to collect 6 tonnes of books from 19 service stations throughout Invercargill, Bluff, Wallacetown and Riverton.

“People like books and the sale has been going on for 30 years. We were a bit worried that the e-books will take over, but the sale is getting bigger and we are getting more books every year.

“If you want to be a cook, a gardener, a mechanic or you like fiction, history and novels – the books are here,” Mr Dunn said.

DVDs, CDs and computer games will also be for sale.

“We want to encourage people to come to the sale this weekend and to find a good book for the winter,” he said.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to support charities.
