STALLS, live music, entertainment and, of course, being Christmas even Santa Claus,
will feature at this year’s Christmas Twilight Market in Riverton.
To be held on Friday, December 8, from 5pm-8pm, this year’s event will be held along Palmerston St, as well as indoors at The Postmaster Bakery, Flecks Hall, the Riverton Environment Centre, Union Church and the RSA along Palmerston St.
Co-organiser and The Postmaster Bakery co-owner Marleen Adams said although this was the third Christmas event, it was also the sixth market she and coorganiser and business partner Iri Luke had organised for the town.
“It is becoming an annual feature, and it gets even bigger each time… we had close to 1000 people at the last market mid-year.’’
The duo began organising the markets three years ago to encourage more people to visit Riverton, and it had worked, she said.
Palmerston St would be closed to traffic from the Bayside Takeaways and Riverton Medical Centre to The Postmaster Bakery.
The family-friendly event is suitable for all ages, with children’s and various entertainment, as well as demonstrations by woodchoppers and the opportunity to browse dozens of stalls.
Although plenty of stall-holders had already booked stalls, there were still some available to hire on the main street, Ms Adams said.
For the children there will be face painting, a bouncy castle and a merry-go-round.
