Southland Boys’ High School (SBHS) and Southland Girls’ High School took part in the Interschool Plastic Bag Challenge for Years 7 and 8 pupils organised by the Invercargill City Council Youth Council.

SBHS won the challenge with 6964 plastic bags and will receive a bench seat made of 16,000 recycled plastic bags.

The project was developed to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a 15-year plan adopted by the UN to achieve a better future for the planet, people and prosperity.
