IT’S party time.
South Alive is further boosting the life and soul of South City by organising the third annual South City Street Party.
This year’s party, to be held tomorrow, will once again stop traffic with Elles Rd (from New World to Domino’s) and Martin St (to the end of the shops) being closed off from 5pm, South Alive manager Cressida Evans said.
The party would officially start at 6pm and run through until 9pm and included live music from Midnight Cruise and Emma Wells, a kapa haka performance by Fernworth Primary pupils, a Vietnamese dance performance, marching groups, Cook Island drummers and street performers, she said. Inside the South City Mall, there would be craft stalls, raffles and a chocolate wheel. Food vendors would be in the United Video car park and Martin St.
Local retailers would also be offering in-store specials on the night, she said.
“This is a great chance to come out, meet new people and celebrate your community. There’s no cost to attend, this is a family-friendly event and everyone’s welcome,” she said.
“Last year’s party was packed with people.
“It’s a great way to celebrate spring and the school holidays. We can’t wait to see you there.”
