The Online shopping with Frank

Tutor Frank Capil, class participant Olive Swain and SeniorNet treasurer Gloria Peterson.

The Online shopping with Frank workshop was held at the SeniorNet South learning centre last week.

SeniorNet South chairman Bruce Smart said participants were introduced to the advantages and risks of online shopping.

“It is important for seniors to learn about new technologies. Being able to shop online or simply getting their groceries can makes their everyday life easier.”

Mr Smart said the learning centre volunteers wanted to continue with their work but to be able to do so they needed new members to join.

“If people don’t get on board we won’t be able to run. Without their support we won’t be here and I think it is important for the seniors to have a place where they can come and learn about modern technology and how it can help them,” he said.

SeniorNet is a community training network that supports and motivates people aged 50 and over to enjoy and use technology in their everyday lives. The annual membership fee is $25.

Next free workshop: Internet banking with Murray Heath, from Westpac, Wednesday, November 29. To register, phone SeniorNet South on (03) 214 5264.
