The Pod to come alive with school holiday fun

IT’S going to be more than just a picnic these school holidays at South City.

Grab your Teddy bears and rock on up to South Alive’s The Pod community rooms to join in the fun of Teddy Bears Picnic Yoga, Safari Yoga Journey, and many other events.

Hosted by South Alive, community development and operations manager Courtney Ellison said the community rooms would be abuzz with two weeks of school holiday fun for children aged from toddlers to teenagers.

“The South Alive team received feedback from the community, asking for more things for young people to do over the holidays, so we decided to put on the programme to provide a range of fun, free things for kids.

“We encourage them to come along and try something new.”

All the events were free, with Theatre with Tim (13 to 16-year-olds) the only event which had to be booked as it had a limit of 20 places.

Otherwise, caregivers, parents and children were welcome to just turn up on the day, Ms Ellison said.

Other events during the programme included Lego Fun for all ages, Library Storytime with Invercargill Libraries, the Sports Southland Playland in the South Alive Community Garden and 3X3 Basketball with Dan Peck on the South Alive Basketball courts next to The Pantry.

Parental supervision was required at most events, except the theatre and basketball events.

“It will also give parents and caregivers more options to enjoy interactive fun together.”

Offering even more choices, bubbles, a colouring competition and an in-store quiz would also be held in The Pantry.

“Everyone was welcome.”
