EMERGENCY Management Southland is encouraging Southlanders to prepare for home self-isolation amid the widening spread of Covid-19 in the South Island.
“We’ve developed the My Covid-19 plan which has things to think about when you’re trying to get ready. We don’t want anybody to start panic buying or anything, but it’s a good idea to turn your mind to what you might need to do to isolate at home,” Emergency Management Southland manager Simon Mapp said.
“The plan contains what you might need to do to isolate at home. Anything that you would normally do with the cold or the flu, anything to treat those symptoms.”
The organisation suggests people put together packs and plans containing necessary items to aid and provide entertainment in the case of self-isolation.
“We’ve done a social media campaign through the council, and lots of people are replying with what they’d put in their kits; stuff for the kids, puzzles, colouring-in books. Making sure that the internet is all go and that the Wi-Fi doesn’t collapse on them.”
Emergency Management Southland has provided the Southland Express with one premade kit to give away. The kit (pictured) contains several essential self-isolation items.
To enter, email email@example.com and tell us what you would include in your own self-isolation kit, along with your name and contact phone number by Monday, February 21.
