Woodworkers exhibit their craft at annual show

IF it can be made out of wood, it will most likely be on display at this weekend’s Southland Woodworkers Guild Annual Exhibition.

Opening Saturday, the exhibition gave members an opportunity to showcase their extensive work to the community.

Guild member Bev Wilson said up to 120 items would be on show, from children’s toys, models, clocks, domestic ware and plates, bowls and platters to mixed media art, carvings and furniture and cabinetry.

All the exhibition pieces were created by local artists, so the public could see the diversity of objects guild members had created and also why they did.

As well as the extensive range of items on show, there would also be a raffle, and wooden toys and other items for sale. However, there would be no eftpos, cash only.

The guild, which had 55 members of all ages, including men and women, met on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm at its clubrooms at 5 Mary St.

  • Southland Woodworkers Guild Annual Exhibition, 5 Mary St, Invercargill, Saturday, November 14, to Sunday, November 29 (Wednesdays to Sundays), 10am-3pm. Signage on Tay St. Free entry.
