Invercargill mothers breastfeed babies at a Big Latch On event at the Cheeky Llama cafe in Queens Park on Friday as part of a worldwide event held during World Breastfeeding Week.
The Big Latch On was organised by the Southern District Health Board (SDHB) to give breastfeeding mothers, their partners and whanau and breastfeeding support services the opportunity to meet and share information.
SDHB health promotion adviser/Southland Breastfeeding Advocacy Group member Kathleen Eade said the aim of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, to support mothers to breastfeed and to normalise breastfeeding in public spaces.
About 25 babies, including three sets of twins, were involved in the Invercargill event.
