IT took a week-and-a-half for Kendra Caddy and George Palmer to ride from their hometown of Wellington to Invercargill for their first Burt Munro Challenge experience.
The pair were setting up camp at Oreti Park yesterday ahead of the Have A Go Day, at Teretonga Park, with all their gear packed on to the back of their bikes.
Mr Palmer said he had heard all the hype about the event and wanted to “get amongst it”.
The Beach Race and the Bluff Hill Climb were what they were most looking forward to.
“A lot of people seem to be making a trip of it, we’ve seen tonnes of riders on the way down and everyone is really friendly.”
