INVERCARGILL Saints All Male Choir members Brendan Kerr (left) and Jago Byatt belt out a song at the choir’s annual fundraising concert at the Ascot Park Hotel in Invercargill on Saturday.
This year’s concert The Good Old Boys featured a range of songs performed not only by the choir but also by a variety of artists all supported by the band Triple Shot.
Triple Shot’s Chris Chilton’s rendition of Devil Went Down to Georgia accompanied by Possum Picker fiddler Steven Hayes was a crowd treat with no room to move on the dance floor.
While the choir’s rendition of the Dukes of Hazzard theme tune Good Old Boys, complete with Boss Hogg and a member dressed up as Daisy Duke, was also a crowd favourite.
The choir is made up of about 25 men who perform each year at different events.
They practice once a week under the direction of Jo Ward and raise money to provide music scholarships to school pupils who may not otherwise be able to attend music lessons. This year they are sponsoring eight students.
