Kidding around

Invercargill resident Isla Broomhall (7) meets an ex-SPCA dog at the Read to an Animal school holiday event last week, hosted by the Invercargill City Library and Invercargill SPCA.

From rabbits to dogs and even a baby goat, children lined up at the library for a chance to come face-to-face with their furry friends.

Invercargill SPCA animal care manager Georgia Dillon said it was an opportunity for children to learn how to be nice and quiet around small animals and to read to them.

“They’re loving the doggos over there. My rabbits are a little quieter and calmer, but they’ve been loving seeing how big the bunnies can get with the Giant Flemish breed.” Photo: Abbey Palmerlatest RunningNike
