THOUSANDS of performers and supporters have been pouring into the stadium this week for the 10th anniversary Murihiku Polyfest.
Hosted by Miharo, formerly known as Murihiku Maori and Pasifika Cultural Trust, Murihiku Polyfest festival gives young people from early childhood centres to senior secondary school groups the opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the Maori and Pasifika cultures within the wider Southland/Murihiku community.
What started as a one-day event in 2009 had grown into a six-day festival because of the increasing demand from groups wanting to take part.
This year more than 120 kapa haka groups from throughout Southland were taking part.
