FIORDLAND children had a blast last week making the most of their school holidays.
The Southland District Council promoted a three-day holiday programme in Te Anau for hundreds of children aged 5 to 11.
The activities were based at the Fiordland Community Events Centre, the Memorial Park and the Te Anau Tennis Club from last Tuesday to Thursday.
Previously, the fun-filled event was held on a single day in several locations, but this year the council decided to extend the programme due to high demand in two locations — Te Anau and Winton.
The council joined forces with Active Southland to offer activities such as climbing, bowls, wheeled activities, rock painting, kite flying, free play, disc golf and tennis.
Nine-year-old Lochlan Shefford (pictured) had fun at the climbing wall as part of the programme.
Active Southland and the council also promoted their school programme this
week in Winton.
