More than 150 people ventured to the opening of Fiordland’s new climbing wall at the weekend, with 75 heading back to try it out the next day.
Among these climbers was Will Hamilton (pictured).
The build, which cost $275,000, was funded and run by the volunteer-led, non-profit incorporated society Fiordland Endurance and Adventure Racing Society.
Measuring nearly 300 square metres, Vaughn Filmer said the project took thousands of volunteer hours to get off the ground.
Built in the Fiordland Community Events Centre, the cost to climb the wall was set as to cover costs, Mr FIlmer said.
Climbing hours are Thursday and Friday, 7pm to 10pm, Saturday and Sunday, 1pm to 4pm.
